The University for Foreigners of Siena and the CLUSS Centre, in collaboration with the PhD programme in Historical Linguistics, Educational Linguistics and Italian Studies, will host the VII International Summer School Language Policy and Language Planning “Bilingual minds and translingual practices in multicultural contexts” from July 8 to 11, 2025. The themes of this year’s Summer School will be:
- Bilingualism between family and educational language policies.
- Translingual practices in migratory, school, and academic contexts.
- Biliteracy and writing practices: development, challenges, and research methodologies.
- Language policy design and implementation.
Methodological tools for quantitative-qualitative research in linguistic, language education, sociolinguistic, and ethnographic fields will be provided. Additionally, interested participants (Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, researchers) will have the opportunity to present their research, discuss collected data, and explore strategies of analysis in thematic workshops with experts in the field and peers. Although presenting one’s research is not mandatory to participate in the Summer School, it is strongly encouraged and can be indicated in the registration form.

Registration Fees
- For undergraduates, Graduates, Ph.D. Students, Postdocs, Researchers, Teachers participation is available at a cost of €196.00 (including the €16.00 stamp duty for registration);
- For the teachers/participants of the FAMI PROFT and FAMI PROMETEO projects, participation is available at a cost of €56 (including the €16.00 registration stamp duty).
- For Students, PhD Candidates, Postgraduate Trainees, Research Fellows, Language Teachers (CEL), University Professors, and University Staff: free registration (a €16 stamp duty is required for registration, except for PhD Candidates, as it is a mandatory activity included in their curriculum).
The International Summer School is part of Unistrasi’s offer for teachers of Italian public schools under the so-called Carta del Docente.

For all types of participants, those who wish to receive the final certificate are required to pay €32.00 (equivalent to two stamp duties of €16.00, one for the certificate request and one for the certificate issue).
